Transfer Roundup: Fatawu, Baldé and Chilufya loaned out, Sadiq earns move to the Eredivisie

The transfer window is closed now in the majority of leagues around the world and for African players there were numerous players who moved on the final days before the deadline on Thursday evening. Perhaps the most notable transfers were loans on the final day as several African national team players moved in search of playing time. Ghana national team playmaker and Best Player at the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, moved to English second tier side Leicester City after struggling to get onto the pitch for Portugal’s Sporting CP. French-Algerian forward Billal Brahimi switched clubs in France’s Ligue 1 with a loan from Nice to Brest while Senegalese forward Keita Baldé is now loaned to Spanish La Liga2 club Espanyol from Russia’s Spartak Moscow.

The biggest permanent transfer involves Swedish club BK Häcken which has become a club where African players thrive.
