The English Premier League was among several European competitions that reached its conclusion over the weekend and Sunday’s action saw plenty of drama with Mali national team midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré providing the thrilling moment in an escape from relegation for Everton. Doucouré smashed in a stellar shot to give the Toffees a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth that saw the club hold on for a seventeenth place finish and secure top division football next season. The 30-year-old midfielder performed well for Everton this season with five goals and two assists in twenty-five matches and is set to stay at the club next season after his contract was extended last week.
